Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience at some point in our lives. Through counseling and treatment, I am able to help you recover motivation, perspective, and joy that you once had in your life.
Individuals can experience symptoms related to different and difficult life experiences. Sadness and hopelessness can be overwhelming and feels impossible to navigate. I can work with you to explore and guide you through to healing.
Mood and personality disorders can affect how you cope with life, interact in relationships, how you feel emotionally and choices of behavior. Counseling can help you understand and manage through learning new coping techniques through the use of Cognitive and Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
I am available through in-person or telehealth appointments.
I am currently in network with United Health/Behavioral Healthcare, Medicare, and Blue Cross Blue Shield.

Worry, anxiety and depression seems to have taken over. We currently are living in a time where we struggle with fears and grief about a pandemic, world events and current or past personal crises. Life has changed so quickly in the past few years; many people are feeling unsure, unhappy and maybe even hopeless. Therapy can be restorative and healing. Together we can work on finding balance and well being. You Are Not Alone. I Am Here To Help.
My name is Amy Bowden. I believe the goal of therapy is to reflect on life struggles, address problematic behaviors, thoughts and feelings, understand there are alternatives and choices for moving forward and discover helpful techniques that can engage that process. Therapy is for defining a personal understanding of self and setting the goals you want to accomplish that will add value and meaning for your life. I understand the need for support for this process and the importance of the therapist/client relationship through a person-centered and strengths-based philosophy. I received my Master in Social Work degree from a joint educational program with the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and North Carolina Agricultural and Technical University. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and have specialized training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, and Psychotherapy. I also regularly attend continuing educational trainings.
